In 2011, I became a Board Certified Family Nurse Practitioner and have the privilege of working with many individuals on many different concerns. In 2018, I added board certification for Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner when referral resources were slim, and acknowledging I needed more expertise for my family practice clients.
I wish we had the research, clinical training, and knowledge to care for individuals experiencing the symptoms related to perimenopause and menopause when I first started partnering with women. We simply did not and were told hormones were against the rules even though our bodies have produced them all their lives, and women suffered.
This type of treatment requires an individualized approach and understanding the complex array of symptoms that can be impacted is essential. I have personal and clinical experience with menopause, and can collaborate with you during this important time. Often, my interactions begin with women experiencing anxiety or sleeplessness, and this may be coupled with mood changes. My background also allows me to be helpful in this realm. Brain health is affected during this transition, and hormones are powerful tools that can alleviate brain fog, sleeplessness and irritability. Sometimes progesterone cannot be tolerated or estrogen is contraindicated. That’s okay, there can be effective alternatives.
In 2024, I began learning from Heather Hirsch, and completed the Academy. I am sitting for Menopause Society Certification in 2025.
In my free time I like riding my bike on the trails, taking my dog for a walk, roasting coffee, and getting together with my daughters and friends, and traveling with my husband.
